Cookie use policy

The purpose of this cookie use policy is to inform users of www.ofi-invest.com (hereinafter the “Website”), published by our company (hereinafter the “Publisher”), of the use of cookies on this Website (hereinafter “Cookie(s)”) and the means at their disposal to oppose such use. It supplements the information available in the informative banner on the Website (hereinafter: the “Banner”) and the tool for managing consent to the use of cookies (hereinafter the “Consent Management Tool”).

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a computer file or tracker that is stored and read, particularly upon the viewing of a website or a mobile application, regardless of the type of device used (computer, smartphone, mobile telephone, etc.).

The following cookie technologies are used by the Website:

  • HTTP cookies (or browser cookies): all information placed on your device’s hard disk (computer, phone, tablet, etc.) by a server when you visit a website. They are stored in a sub-directory of your browser and are then sent to the server upon each new request that you make.
  • Flash cookies (or local shared object): all information stored on your device’s hard disk by a server during your visit of a website and managed by the Adobe Flash Player extension module. They are stored in sub-directory of the Flash Player extension module and are then sent to the server upon each new request that you make.
  • Web beacons (or invisible pixels): computer code asking your browser to make a request to a server that will retain the information regarding the origin of this request (notably by retaining the computer referrer) and that will store on your device’s hard disk a small transparent image, as well as other HTTP and/or flash cookies. The pixels are stored in a sub-directory of your browser’s file as image files.
  • Execution of JavaScript codes: pieces of computer code in JavaScript received after a request from a server and executed by your browser in order to compile information pertaining to your device and its use.

The use of cookies on a website or a mobile app is governed by specific regulations, particularly Article 82 Act n°78-17 of 6 January 1978 on Data Processing, Data Files and Individual Liberties (hereinafter: the “Law on Data and Freedoms”). Under the terms of these provisions, storing and/or use of cookies by a website are, with some exceptions, subject to the website user’s consent.

What type of cookies do we use?

Various categories of purposes of cookies are used by this Website:

  • Category 1: technical and/or functionality cookies, considered “essential” (mandatory)
These cookies are used exclusively to facilitate electronic communication and/or are strictly necessary for supplying an online communication service at the user’s express request. They make it possible, in particular, to offer you a better Website experience, to retain your preferred Website settings, to ask for your acceptance or rejection of the storage of non-essential cookies, and to ensure the proper functioning and security of the Website.
As they are essential to the proper functioning of the Website, and in accordance with Article 82 of the Law on Data and Freedoms, these cookies are not subject to the user’s consent. They are therefore activated by default and may not be deactivated through the Consent Management Tool.
  • Category 2: audience-measurement cookies (non-essential)
These cookies help us better understand visitors’ interactions with our website, to identify Website input channels, to highlight which Website segments are heavily or lightly viewed, and to generate anonymous statistics pertaining to its use that allow us to enhance the Website and the services it offers. Failure to activate such cookies would prevent us from studying the way you interact with our website and, over the long term, offering content that meets our visitors’ expectations.
Use of these cookies is subject to the user’s prior consent under the terms provided in the section entitled “What means do you have for opposing the use of cookies?”.
  • Category 3: ad cookies (non-essential)
These cookies make it possible to personalise which ads are shown to users of our Website, based on their interests.
Failure to activate such cookies will not reduce the frequency of ads that are shown to you during your browsing session but will keep us from personalising them based on our interests.
Use of these cookies is subject to the user’s prior consent under the terms provided in the section entitled “What means do you have for opposing the use of cookies?”.
  • Category 4: social-media cookies (non-essential)
These Cookies allow our visitors to interact with social media modules present on the Website and may compile information on their browsing history. Failure to activate such cookies would keep you from interacting with social media sites via our Website.
Use of these cookies is subject to the user’s prior consent under the terms provided in the section entitled “What means do you have for opposing the use of cookies?”.

How long are cookies stored?

When they are placed on your device, cookies may be stored:

  • for the duration of the current session, i.e., until you close your browser (session cookies); this period applies to technical and/or functionality cookies considered “essential” (mandatory), as well as audience-measure cookies; or
  • for a pre-determined period from the date and time the cookie is stored on your device: the storage period may not exceed thirteen (13) months (persistent cookie).

The retention time of each cookie is stated in the section below under “List of cookies currently used on our website”.

What means do you have for opposing the use of cookies?

An “Accept all” button can be clicked on to consent to the use of all cookies used on the website.

A “Continue without accepting” button can be clicked on to oppose the use of all cookies used on the website (with the exception of essential cookies not subject to consent). When the user chooses to click on the “Continue without accepting” button, such a choice is interpreted as a rejection.

A “Personalised my choices” button takes users to the Consent Management Platform and allows them manage their preferences based on the cookie category. This setting is done through the use of switches. The switch controlling essential cookies is activated by default and cannot be deactivated. The switches controlling the other cookie purposes are deactivated by default and may be activated by the user.

With the exception of cookies not subject to consent (technical and functionality cookies), a cookie category is placed and stored on the Website only if the user has accepted either all cookies (“Accept all” button) of the cookie category specifically concerned (“Personalise my choices” button).

How can you modify your choice?

Your choice is stored on an essential cookie (not subject to consent) for a period of six months. Thereafter, you will be asked again for your preference.

You may also set your choice freely at any time using the Consent Management Tool in the lower right-hand corner of the Internet page.
